What Is Myopia?
Myopia, also known as nearsightedness, is a refractive error that causes blurry distance vision.
It typically develops during childhood when the eye grows too long, or the cornea becomes too steep. Traditional glasses and contacts could help correct your child’s vision, but myopia control techniques can help keep it from progressing and increasing the risk of other eye conditions.

Dr. Pillai has a special interest in helping children manage myopia progression and even serves on the American Academy of Orthokeratology & Myopia Control advisory committee to help educate the public about the issue and how orthokeratology and other techniques can help preserve your child’s vision.
What Does It Do?
Orthokeratology contact lenses are worn at night while your child sleeps. During this time, the lenses gently reshape their cornea to correct their vision.
When your child wakes up, they can remove the lenses and enjoy their vision without the need for additional contacts or eyeglasses during the day.
Is It Right for My Child?
Though orthokeratology contacts are a fantastic option for children with myopia, we still need to perform a comprehensive eye exam to ensure the treatment is right for them.
We can also offer additional treatments like atropine eye drops and MiSight contact lenses to help control your child’s myopia progression.
